COLOMBIA – BUCHANAN’S TIEMPO PARA COMPARTIR – BUCHANAN’S SHARE YOURSELF April 10, 2012
We have completed a month of Buchanan’s Tiempo Para Compartir in Colombia, Mexico and Venezuela.
Speaking from the inside of how this program has been, we are extremely proud of what we have achieved and how Colombian people have responded to donate 4 hours of their time helping the community, meeting new people, and building good things. I personally have to say that has been a busy month, but full of enjoyment. Working with the charity partners has giving us a tremendous energy of good things and we want to keep working. And you know what? The people who have been volunteering want to come back, and not because of the concert or artist (which by the way we still don’t know who it is), but because how good is to feel that you are helping other people and doing something good for the community.
We are almost there, but for now wanted to share with you some videos of what we have been doing.
This is our first project, building a community centre in Ciudad Bolívar with the charity Un Techo Para mi País:
With Arcángeles, we are building a technology centre, with recycled bottles (pet bottles). This project has taken us a lot of work, but is amazing how is coming together, and we are looking forward to see it finish.
So are you willing to donate 4 hours of your time, to become part of this movement?
One person at the time, and we can change the World! January 31, 2012
One person at the time, and we can change the World!
With this philosophy RockCorps started in 2005 in United States, and now they have changed the mind of more than 81,000 people who become volunteers that have donated more than 324,000 hours of their time to social causes, in USA, England, France and Israel.
Now RockCorps is starting projects in Latin America in Mexico, Venezuela and Colombia, and I am happy and proud to be part of the planning team in Colombia who will deliver this amazing program, more news to come and here a video that shows what exactly RockCorps have done, and I will be doing this semester.
Rioja Tapas Fantásticas wins Events Awards in 2010 December 1, 2010
In June this year in Pottersfield Park in London, I was part of the RPM organisers team who organised a great event; Rioja Tapas Fantásticas, it was 3 day event where there was combination of delicious Spanish food and amazing wine (even though I couldn’t taste it those days, because I was working), I had a great time being part of the team and now makes even happier to see that it has won not only 1 but 2 events industry awards.
First it started with UK Event Awards, winning as B2B/LEISURE: Best Medium Event
And second with Eventia Awards, winning the silver prize as Best Event in a Public Space.
Makes me feel very proud of this and is a very good way to end this amazing 2010.

So everyone, I mean everyone can be part of it. Is a nice weekend for the end of the summer where you can incorporate yourself between and the art world.
For the full programme click here.
I will the stall coordinator, and all the stalls will be in New Street and Victoria Square. The stalls are a combination of the organisations that are participating in the programme and some arts and crafts for you to bring to your house.
Supersonic in search for the best people September 4, 2010
One of my favourite events is happening again this year, Supersonic coming live again in October for the weekend of the 22nd to the 24th.
This events is one of my favourite not only because I have been part of the team since 2008, when I as the production intern, is because the whole atmosphere of the event itself. The amazing people who put this together, the great group of volunteers who offers their time just to be part of this, the audience who come to enjoy and find all those new bands that Lisa and Jenny put together for us to know, and the venue, The Custard Factory itself that bring a unique energy and atmosphere that always make want to be part of it.
As being a month ahead of the festival we start looking for those amazing people that will help us to put together and deliver the best festival this year, Supersonic is looking for VOLUNTEERS.
For more information go to the info page of Supersonic’s website or simply email: volunteer [at]capsule.org.uk and write VOLUNTEER in subject to show your interest.
We are also looking for people with a great eye, who capture the right moments. So PHOTOGRAPHERS if you want to be part os this festival write to volunteer [at]capsule.org.uk and write PHOTOGRAPHER to show your interest.
The team will get back to you as soon as possible with the application form, and see you in October.
SUPERSONIC 2010 – JOB OPPORTUNITIES June 1, 2010
Well you all might now that this year SuperSonic has changed the date for October and is promising to be better that before (well knowing Lisa and Jenny you know that is possible), but I want to take to the opportunity to let you know that they are looking for a great people to be part of their team. Well our team, because this year I will be the Site Manager, that’s right:).
This blog post is too late to inform the Operational Manager position, the deadline was yesterday. But you can still make it for the Interns and Volunteer positions.
I have to say that be part of this team is amazing and you are able to learn lots of music, events, marketing, deal with artists, and not that nice things like cleaning and be aware of recycling, but is a great opportunity to meet amazing people, listening great bands and be part of one of the best festivals in the UK and maybe the world. I started being a production intern in 2008 in charge of the merchandise area, and I did it so well (that was Lisa and Jenny said), that last year I was the Production Coordinator. So is a great place to build your career and learn.
So if you are interest in applying to be an intern follow this link and apply, you won’t regret it.
The intern positions available are:
- Production
- Marketing
- Design
To volunteer is this link.
The Secret of Kells March 29, 2010
This weekend as part of Flatpack Festival I had the opportunity to watch this outstanding film, according to the description:
Twelve year-old Brendan lives in an abbey with his grumpy uncle and a motley group of monks. One day they are joined by the legendary illustrator Brother Aidan, who tells tales of Viking invaders and brings in his bag an amazing secret; the Book of Kells. This unique film tells the tale of how the sacred text was completed and survived to become one of Ireland’s national treasures. With animation which is nearly as beautiful as the book itself – especially when Brendan ventures beyond the town walls to meet naughty forest-sprite Aisling – The Secret of Kells’ recent Oscar nomination was richly deserved.
Dir: Tomm Moore
Ireland/France/Belgium 2009
With: Brendan Gleeson, Evan McGuire, Christen Mooney, Mick Lally
Certificate: PG
Website: http://www.thesecretofkells.com/
What I loved the most besides the story was their graphics. This animation film has a beautiful collection of drawings fully decorated with stunning colour, combination of greens, browns, blues, etc.
Also the music is beautiful, loved the song signing by little Aisling, when is allowing the cat to do what she can’t do, the message of co-working with others is a good sense.
Don’t know where you will be able to watch this movie, probably you can ask Ian from Flatpack to programme another night, but you definitely should watch it.
Couldn’t see much this year of the festival (last year either) but I love this festival; love the people, the programme and all the vibe that you have around. Really missed not being there for the whole time, but want to congratulate Ian & Pip, and the whole team who made this happened.
The Beauty of Prague March 15, 2010
Sorry for not keeping busy this blog, being away for a bit and on holiday as well, enjoying the beauties of Europe as a present from my mom of mygraduation (love her for this present) . Right now I’m in Prague, the city is beautiful but the weather is awful. I’ll never be able to get used to the cold and winter weather. I miss a lot my sunny and warm days (where are they?)
To not keeping this blog that empty, here it is Prague, with the view of the Charle’s Bridge and the Prague’s Castle on the back. Worth the visit if you haven’t being here yet, and if you have come again. But from the spring to be able to enjoy it as 100%.
In 1971, Prague was denominated as UNESCO world heritage, few cities can say that.
Kseniya Simonova – a Sand Illustrator – Amazing February 9, 2010
As a present for my graduation I got this amazing video showing how Kseniya Simonova an Ukrainian artist won the Ukraine’s Got Talent competition last year.
It’s simply AMAZING and make you even cry, to see how talent she is. Make me think how beautiful her live most be to be able to represent such beautiful moments in live.
